Private Rental

STEPS TO HELP RENTERS

The private rental market is responsible for 26,000 dwellings in the ACT. The Affordable Housing Action Plan will help increase the supply and range of rental properties by encouraging institutional investors to undertake developments incorporating 200 to 400 private rental dwellings, with the potential for shared equity sale to eligible tenants.

The ACT Government is also working with the Commonwealth to assist with the implentation of the national rental affordable scheme which creates incentives for private developers to provide affordable rental accommodation.

ACTION PLAN GOAL

Support the effective operation of the private rental market to ensure a balance between supply and demand, and the availability of a range of accommodation options to suit varying income levels and individual needs.
