Housing assets are being restructured to better meet client needs. DHCS is currently reviewing its public housing asset management strategy and has identified how property numbers can be maintained while moving away from high density living. Housing and Community Services is constructing two bedroom dwellings under the Stimulus initiative that are adaptable and achieve a high energy efficiency standard. |
Continue to maximise the return to public housing in future joint ventures and redevelopments. |
A Joint Venture Agreement for a site in Lyons was entered into in June 2007. Further joint ventures will be considered through the redevelopment of appropriate public housing properties. |
Introduce a shared equity program for eligible tenants through enabling Housing ACT to retain equity in houses sold to tenants. |
Housing ACT is finalising the documentation of the shared equity scheme for eligible public housing tenants. IMB has been announced as the provider of mortage finance. Information sessions have been arranged for interested public housing tenants. A briefing for the Law Society has also been arranged. |
