CHANGING REGULATIONS TO REFLECT NEW PRIORITIES

Objective:

Ensure the planning legislation and requirements facilitate the achievement of key Government and community priorities such as affordable housing and aged care.

Initiatives Achievements

As part of the ACT Planning and Land Authority Review reassess the impact of planning requirements on the cost of new dwellings.

Reforms to the planning system have commenced, with the new Planning and Development Act 2007 and the restructured Territory Plan which commenced on 31 March 2008.

Consultations are being held with industry to address implementation issues with the new legislation.

Affordable housing provisions have been included as part of the planning system reform through the Planning Guideline on Compact Block Housing for New Estates.
